Fragrance Oils for Wax Melts
Wax melts, also known as wax tarts or wax cubes, are a popular and convenient way to add fragrance to any home fragrance line. These small, scented pieces of wax are designed to be melted in a wax warmer, releasing aromas as they do so. The wax melts slowly, allowing for a longer-lasting fragrance experience compared to traditional candles. With a wide range of scents available, wax melts offer versatility and the ability to switch between fragrances to suit your mood or occasion.
Wax melts are typically dosed higher than candles (which top out around 12.0%) and were created as a way to compensate for weak fragrance oils. These oils, which are mostly solvent (sometimes up to 90%!), needed to be dosed much higher to achieve desired performance results. But a word of caution: higher dosages can also pose solubility and other issues, especially with natural and plant-based oils. In addition, we minimize the use of solvents and some wax bases cannot 'hold' the oil. Our suggestion would be to start low and move up until you find the right balance.
