BHT Free Fragrance Oils
BHT (Butylated Hydroxytoluene) is a synthetic antioxidant commonly used in food, cosmetics, and personal care products to prevent oxidation and extend shelf life. While approved for use by some regulatory authorities, BHT is currently banned in the EU, Australia, Canada, and Japan due to health and environmental concerns.
Studies suggest that BHT may negatively affect liver, kidney, and thyroid function. It has also been linked to allergic reactions, respiratory issues, and hormone disruption. Some organizations have classified it as a possible carcinogen. Although more research is needed, it’s best to minimize exposure to synthetic additives like BHT and choose safer, naturally stabilized alternatives.
We DO NOT use BHT in any of our formulations. As a result, some oils may darken slightly over time — this is a completely natural process and does not affect the fragrance’s character or performance.

Because our formulas are free from BHT and other synthetic stabilizers, natural color shifts may occur over time. This is completely normal and does not affect performance or scent quality.
Is BHT still used in fragrances sold in the US?
Yes. Although BHT is banned in regions such as the EU, Australia, and Canada, it remains legal in the U.S. We choose to go beyond regulatory minimums and offer non-toxic fragrance oils that exclude it entirely.
